💪 Fitness App

“Our app had 3-star ratings before Maple54. After redesign: 4.9 stars, 50K downloads month one, users actually finish onboarding. The design system saved us 100+ hours of dev work.”

The App Design Process

Native-feeling apps, designed from first principles.

App design isn't just web design shrunk down. We design for iOS HIG + Material 3 from day one — with thumb-zones, gestures, and OS conventions as hard constraints.

1

Platform + user research

Week 1

iOS vs Android vs cross-platform decision, platform-specific HIG / Material audit, user interviews, competitive teardown on App Store + Play Store.

2

Information architecture

Week 2

Navigation patterns (tab bar, drawer, modals), core user flows, screen inventory, onboarding journey, permission-request strategy.

3

High-fidelity design

Week 3-5

Hi-fi Figma screens for all platforms, native component usage, motion + transition studies, gesture-based interactions, platform-native typography.

4

Prototype + handoff

Week 6

Interactive prototype (Principle / Figma), user testing on real devices, App Store + Play Store asset design (icons, screenshots, videos).

What's Included

Everything needed to ship an App-Store-quality app.

Design, prototyping, testing, and store assets — one complete package.

01

Platform-specific design

iOS (Human Interface Guidelines) + Android (Material 3) designs, not just one design forced across platforms. Platform-appropriate patterns and components.

02

Interactive prototype

Principle or Figma prototype with gesture-based transitions, realistic timing, haptic feedback indicators. Tests on real devices, not just desktop click-throughs.

03

App Store + Play Store assets

App icons (all resolutions), screenshots (device frames + captions), App Store preview videos, privacy labels, keyword research for ASO.

04

Developer handoff

Platform-specific Zeplin + Figma specs, iOS Swift Package Manager + Android Gradle tokens, Storybook-equivalent docs for React Native / Flutter.

Who Needs App Design

Built for consumer + B2B app products.

Mobile app design pays off when your product lives on phones. For web-first products, skip the app design until you're sure mobile is essential.

Commerce Apps

Shopping apps with tiered loyalty, wish lists, order tracking, push-based re-engagement. Native app design drives 2-3× higher CVR than mobile web.

Health + Fitness

Workout apps, meditation, tracking, coaching. Platform integrations (HealthKit, Google Fit) + daily streak mechanics require deliberate native design.

Social + Community

Discussion apps, community platforms, messaging products. Native design matters more here than anywhere else — users live in these apps daily.

Education + Learning

Course apps, language learning, cohort platforms. Offline-first design, background audio, streak mechanics — all require platform-native thinking.

Our Design Stack

Industry-standard tools, included.

Best-in-class design + research + handoff tooling — enterprise licenses bundled into every engagement.

Mobile app design, answered honestly.

Can you design for both iOS + Android?

Yes. We design platform-specific Figma files — not just one design stretched across both platforms. iOS HIG + Material 3 are different design systems with different user expectations.

How long does app design take?

6-8 weeks for a mid-complexity app (20-40 screens). Smaller MVP apps: 4-6 weeks. Complex multi-role apps: 10-14 weeks. Every project includes prototyping and user testing.

Do you handle the App Store submission?

We prepare the assets (icons, screenshots, preview videos, descriptions, keywords, privacy labels). Submission itself is typically done by the development team. We can handle the full App Review back-and-forth for an additional scope.

Figma vs. Framer for prototyping?

Figma for most projects — team collaboration, easy handoff, good enough prototyping. Framer when we need advanced animations, scroll interactions, or code-integration prototypes that justify the learning curve.

What about accessibility for apps?

VoiceOver + TalkBack compatibility baked in. Color contrast audits, dynamic type support, large-text layouts, keyboard / switch control navigation. Accessibility is a design constraint from screen 1.
